In this module, we will delve into the significance of integrating the sensory dimension into the biopsychosocial framework, with a specific focus on understanding and managing cancer-related pain.

What will I learn in this module?

  • Understand the Biopsychosocial Model: Participants will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the biopsychosocial model, recognizing the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors in the experience and management of cancer pain.
  • Evaluate Psychological Factors: Participants will learn how to assess psychological factors, including thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and integrate psychological interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, into cancer pain management.
  • Consider Social Factors: Participants will recognize the impact of social factors, such as family dynamics, economic status, and cultural background, on cancer pain, and incorporate strategies to address these aspects in patient care.
