In the recent past South African Nursing Council (SANC) has embarked on development of strategic documents in order to:

• align itself with the transformation in nursing education and practice
• help the profession to understand the nursing regulations better
• ensure that nursing education and practice are well grounded

This initiative was based on a consultative process with the nursing profession through various stakeholders.

This collaborative drive, engagements and information sharing with the relevant stakeholders has enriched SANC documents and ensured a sense of ownership.
