Dr Tony Dalby

Tony Dalby is a Cardiologist in private practice at Life Fourways Hospital in Johannesburg. He graduated from Pretoria University and did his post-graduate studies at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town. After receiving his F.C.P.(S.A.). He became a Consultant in the Dept. of Cardiology at Johannesburg Hospital for 4 years before entering private practice.
While President of the South African Society of Cardiac Practitioners, he co-founded the SA Heart Association in 1999 and was a member of its Executive Committee until 2011
He is an Honorary Life Member of the South African Heart Association. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.
From 1994 until 2016 he served as National Lead Investigator for South Africa on the International Steering Committees of 40 Phase III drug trials in acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, diabetes, and the secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
He has been first author or co-author of 55 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
He was the Liaising Editor for Africa for the European Heart Journal (2003-2008) and on the editorial board of the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa (1989-2009). He edited Heart Matters, a newsletter distributed to South African cardiologists, physicians and family practitioners, from its inception until 2013. He was a member of the International Medical Advisory Board of MD Conference Express.
He has served on Advisory Boards for Aspen, AstraZeneca, Bayer, Boehringer-Ingelheim, DiscoveryHealth, Lilly, Novartis, Pfizer, Sanofi and Servier.
